I watched a re-run of Designing Women tonight. It was about Suzanne going to her high school reunion and everyone making fun of her for being fat. It just so happens that Anthony was involved in a 48 hour hunger trike and all the money that would have been spent on thoe 6 meals were going to be donated to stop world hunger.
At the end of the show they had the obligatory learning lesson about worl hunger. They stated every day 40,000 people die of hunger around the world. That is staggering to think of. Julia in her own style made the point about how the news told you about some politician going to jail, another movie star getting a divorce and no where on TV or in the newspaper was this tragedy ever covered.
That was in 1990. It is 2011 and the same still holds true. The people dying of hunger is still high, over 26,000 people worldwide died today of malnutrition. How is it that 20 years ago this was still a problem yet nothing has been done?

Christmas Season?
So it is officially the Christmas season. I look forward to this all year long as it is my favorite. A close second is Halloween. I always want to start my Christmas music on November 1st I love it so much. I love the songs new and old. I love the smell of pine, pumpkin & spice. I love all the goodies that are made and the special chex mix I make. And best of all the Christmas movies like White Christmas, Nat'l Lampoons Christmas and all the Rankin/Bass claymation cartoons.
This year I am not really into the season. It is so hard for me to even listen to music. I don't want to bake or make chex mix like always. I don't even want to put up the small Christmas tree I have. I have all these wonderful candles and wallflowers with warm scents.....I just don't want to. Does everyone go through this? At one time or another?

New Family Member
I got a new kitty. I lost my first pet last year. He was a gray tabby named Pookie. He was named for Garfield's teddy bear; sweet and cuddly. Well, until he got older and became a touch-me-not :)
I taught him to sit. Yes you can teach cats this and much more. You've heard of cats peeing in the toilet. I didn't go that far. Besides, who won't do anything for a treat?
Pookie died of heart failure. Who knew animals get people disorders? Poor boo-boo. I will spare you the tears of how he died in my arms, but I did the right thing in letting him go instead of keeping him on medications. That was April 2010. It took a while before I ever thought I was ready for something else in my life.
In July 2011, I met Pepper. He was the cutest little kitten at the SPCA. Well he was to me. Pepper was brought in with his sister Salt. Yeah, I don't know who came up with these names. Now, I was definitely NOT going to keep Pepper as a name.
I asked my mom and best friend to help me come up with names. Tiger, Hopper, Charlie, and Sir Paw McCartney were just a few names we thought of. When I got him home he kept queaking like a dog toy. So I decided on Mr. Squeakers.
Turns out Mr. Squeakers needed to be spayed, not nuetered. He was a she, lol. I guess the SPCA should do a BIT more checking :) My friend Mel calls her Rupaul Jamie Lee Curtis. Her official name is Squeakers, but occasionally she gets called Squeaky or Squeaky Jean. At 7 months she definitely still squeaks like a dog chew toy. I love her; she is so much fun to play with!
You know, unless she is mugging me for my water!

Who is Jack Schitt?
WHO IS JACK SCHITT ?
For some time many of us have wondered just who is Jack Schitt? We
find ourselves at a loss when someone says, 'You don't know Jack Schitt!'
Well, thanks to my genealogy efforts, you can now respond in an
intellectual way.
Jack Schitt is the only son of Awe Schitt. Awe Schitt, the
fertilizer magnate, married O. Schitt, the owner of Needeep N. Schitt, Inc.
They had one son, Jack.
In turn, Jack Schitt married Noe Schitt. The deeply religious couple
produced six children: Holie Schitt, Giva Schitt, Fulla Schitt, Bull
Schitt, and the twins Deep Schitt and Dip Schitt.
Against her parents' objections, Deep Schitt married Dumb Schitt, a
high school dropout. After being married 15 years, Jack and Noe Schitt
divorced. Noe Schitt later married Ted Sherlock, and because her kids were
living with them, she wanted to keep her previous name.. She was then known
as Noe Schitt Sherlock.
Meanwhile, Dip Schitt married Loda Schitt, and they produced a son
with a rather nervous disposition named Chicken Schitt. Two of the other
six children, Fulla Schitt and Giva Schitt, were inseparable throughout
childhood and subsequently married the Happens brothers in a dual ceremony.
The wedding announcement in the newspaper announced t he Schitt-Happens
nuptials.. The Schitt-Happens children were Dawg, Byrd, and Horse.
Bull Schitt, the prodigal son, left home to tour the world. He
recently returned from with his new Italian bride, Pisa Schitt.
Now when someone says, 'You don't know Jack Schitt,' you can correct
them.
Sincerely,
Crock O. Schitt

New Years Resolutions
I understand it is almost February, but my friend Pam posted what she was NOT going to do this year, instead of what she will be doing. I have thought this was a good idea, so I am going to do the same!
Things I will NOT do this year, and in no particular order.
I will NOT
1. allow myself the excuse not to take my medications because it upsets my stomach
2. use the money I am saving for health care for any other purpose
3. let my laziness get the better of me and try hard to stay on top of my finances...that sounds bad. I am just trying to save and pay of my credit card. I am so close, I can almost smell it!
4. let go of my goals and stick with a plan for each.
I am also going to try to be more civic minded. There is a battered women's shelter close by and they are always looking for volunteers. I think I may try to do what I can for them. Even if it is just purchasing personal care items for the women and children, I want to help.

Wow
I just read an article that sited the president lifting a ban on funding international abortion groups. I applaud him for hitting the ground running and also lifting a ban. I don't think it is governments right to tell me what I can or cannot do with my body.
I was taken aback by the amount, however. The US government spends 400 million dollars each year in this. Let's say this together, Four Hundred MILLION dollars. Seriously? Ummmm, couldn't that/shouldn't that money be used here?
This fund is labeled for "abortion groups" around the world, but it actually gives money to countries who have no other way to get health care. My health care was just jacked up to $609 a month. I can't afford it. So why are we giving away that much money abroad. Shouldn't that be kept for us?! Who votes on this?

Ignorance is why we are where we are
I almost gagged to night at work. A older lady came in my store with bejewelled jeans and a sweatshirt. On her sweatshirt was a large picture of Barack Obama and in big bold letters was the phrase "He's Black and I'm Proud".
WTF? You know, it is ignorance like that, that makes GA 49th in the nation. Seriously I cannot get over how many people voted for him because he was black. I think it is so moronic, ignorant, stupid, etc. to vote that way!
I did not vote for him, nor did I vote for the other big ticket guy. I don't think either one of them was qualified. They did not meet the standards to which I want my president to be held. I informed myself on their issues, policies and stances. I did research. I researched all the people I wanted in office. Some Dems and some Repubs. I don't care for the two party system...I think it is a pigeon hole.
Back to topic. It is just appalling that people have voted for this man because of the color of his skin. And then announcing it to the world on their damn shirts! That is like voting for HRC and wearing a shirt with a big vagina on it saying "She's a Woman and I'm Proud" (Thanks Michelle). This woman didn't do research, she judged the book by the cover.
Has it occurred to anyone else that this is how we got into the crap situation we are in? Has it occurred to anyone else tha maybe, just maybe, we ought to hold people accountable, start asking our government officials what they are doing for us. Just becuase they are in office, doesn't mean they have our best interest at heart.
I'm just sick. Please don't get me wrong. I am an American and I will support Obama because he is my president. I may not agree with some of his policies, but I will not be negative about it. I just can't imagine the thoughts that some people have on their voting. I mean, they must run their daily lives that way. How do they make it out of bed/house alive? How do they function?
